TallyPrime Keyboard Shortcuts: Beginner’s Cheatsheet
If you’ve just started using TallyPrime, you’ve probably noticed that experienced accountants rarely ever use their mouse yet they seem to fly through voucher entry, jump between reports and pull up GST screens in seconds?
This was largely made possible by keyboard shortcuts.
The good news is you don’t need to memorise all of them on day-one!
A small set of shortcuts covers almost everything a beginner does in TallyPrime. Let’s learn those first and the rest would follow naturally as you use the software.
The Essential Shortcuts:

| F2 | Change voucher/report date |
| F3 | Switch to another open company |
| F11 | Open Company Features |
| F12 | Open Configuration for the current report |
| Esc | Go back/ cancel current input |
| Ctrl + F1 | Open Help for the current screen |
| Alt + F | Find/search within a screen |
| Alt + F2 | Change the company’s financial period |
| Alt + F4 | Quit Tally Prime |

Voucher Entry:

| Ctrl + D | Remove a ledger/ item line |
| Alt + C | Open the calculator panel |
| Tab/ Shift + Tab | Move to next/ previous field |
| Ctrl + 4 | Insert currency (₹) symbol |
| F10 | View list of all vouchers or masters |
Navigating Reports:

| Alt + D | Delete an entry from a report |
| Alt + X | Cancel a voucher from a report |
| Alt + 2 | Duplicate a voucher entry |

| B | Get balance for bank account in Get Balance Report |

Why learn shortcuts at all?
As a beginner, you’ll click through TallyPrime with a mouse just as fine at first. But once you’re entering the same vouchers day after days, these keyboard shortcuts will come in handy in because:
- Faster data entry : no repeated switching between keyboard and mouse.
- Fewer errors: hands stay on the keyboard throughout, reducing mid-entry typos.
- Increased productivity: smoother workflow over long sessions.
